The future of Sandia Mesa on Twitch is in your hands.
Effective February 19th, 2018 at 9:00am PST/10:00am MST, a new set of community guidelines will be enforced.
According to Twitch, they’re updating it with the intent of “monitoring toxic behavior.” But what do they define as “toxic behavior?”
Well, one obvious answer might be it depends on context and what you view as toxic behavior. And you’re probably right. They’re doing this to take a stance against hate and restrict content that is sexual. Sounds normal, right?
But Twitch is adding something else in… we can be banned or punished for off-Twitch activities. This could actually be dangerous and motivate their staff to ban specific users because they either don’t like what they’re doing or for criticizing them, the major thing that Vidme became infamous for in dealing with us.
Even other Twitch streamers are criticizing their recent announcement of new community guidelines. What will Twitch staff do to them come February 19th? Will they experience fiascos just like we did with Vidme employee Ryan Duffy in 2017?
With all this in mind, should we drop Twitch on February 19th, 2018?
